Project SEARCH Job Coach

Project SEARCH is an exciting work focused transition program for high school students labeled w/ an intellectual disability. This endeavour, where students/teacher/job coaches are embedded in a corporate setting, is the first of its kind in Canada. The lead organization, SCE LifeWorks, is a non profit organization that supports people with intellectual disabilities to work in the community.

Applications are being accepted for two Job Coach positions.

The job coaches will primarily work in a corporate office environment; duties include provision of work experience training & task analysis support to students.  Successful candidate attributes include:

  • Positive, professional & engaging working demeanor

  • Excellent verbal/written comm. skills

  • Strong MS Office skills/comfort with computer tasks

  • Creative thinker; problem solver; initiator; works w/ min. supervision

  • Experience supporting people w/intellectual disabilities &/or autism

  • Demonstrated flexibility & ability to work as a team player

  • Pref: human services degree or equiv. combined education & experience

Some of the positions that exist at SCE LifeWorks are as follows:

Individual Support Worker
The Individual Support Worker is responsible for the provision of one-to-one support in all areas of day activities identified in the person's individual plan.

Job Coach
The Job Coach is responsible for the provision of on-site training and support for individuals in a supported employment worksite.

Employment
Consultant
The Employment Consultant is responsible for all aspects of supported employment services for individuals assigned to their caseloads. Services include job development and job placement; on-site training and support; follow-up support; and bridgeback. The Employment Consultant is ultimately responsible for the timely (52 week) graduation of individuals into competitive employment. The Employment Consultant works as part of a team and interacts frequently with consumers and encourages their ongoing participation in program implementation.
